Col Clifford designed
these joiners, and in an ingenious fashion they allow
the various aluminium sections to mate with each other.
This provides means of making
the boat cladding stronger with out an excessive weight
penalty. For instance the round 40mm alloy forms the
seamless chine lines and the joiners for the chines
to the frames allows the square section to fit in
as stringers.
You reap what you sow and
the benefits show in utilizing lower weight less expensive
outside material.
Of course Col's joiners also
are able to mix and match with each other, such as
at the stems and transoms where the two opposite sides
join. These are pop riveted together.
Due to the loss of strength,
welding with thin sections of aluminium alloy is not
an option.
